An appropriate use of mirrors outdoors is to help people exit driveways and other areas that have blind spots. This prevents other vehicles running into yours as you pull out into traffic.

Indoors we use mirrors to review our personal appearance. Therefore, mirrors should be on the backs of doors and closet doors (so they are not regularly visible) and in bathrooms.
