Mirrors, depth and McFengshui

Question

I have a small entry with a small closet that faces the door. The closet has curved corners and no door…I hung a curtain of bamboo and have a six foot high by 2 feet wide oval mirror in a nice wooden frame to put inside the closet to add depth to the scene…is this good feng shui…?? thanks..

Answer

I suspect that you have been misled by McFengshui, which has some very superstitious ideas about mirrors and optics.

A bamboo curtain has nothing to do with feng shui. A mirror in a closet is only useful if you use it to check your appearance before you leave. Just because a closet has curved corners is no cause for concern — this may be an alcove, not a closet.

Have your house analyzed by a competent practitioner — not a McFengshui fraud — to know whether you have good feng shui.
