Tropical fish of the same color?

I have an aquarium set up with 8 gold fish and one black fish, CAn i use tropical type fish of the same or similar colour instead of actualy gold fish. As tropical are much easier to look after as well as having a nicer look.

Because you have chosen fish according to some McFengshui principles, I should charge you a lot of money and then invent an answer.
For real feng shui, you would consider how your surrounding environment and the house affect you and the fish. You would be concerned about the welfare of the fish.
Remember the Taoist worldview: all life is equally sacred.
