How the direction is (or isn't) explained
Question
I was told that the best direction for my bed FACING is WEST OR HEAD BOARD. Does this mean that the head board should be up aginst the West wall in my room or if I sit up in bed, I am facing West?
Thank you
Deb
Answer
This is pretty simple, as feng shui material goes. I’d be wondering about the accuracy of any of their advice if they couldn’t get this straight.
The rule is “pillow direction” — that is, what direction the pillow is in when your head is on the pillow.
If you sleep with your head in a corner, the pillow direction is the direction of the corner. If you sleep with your head on a pillow at the foot of your bed and prop your feet on your headboard, the pillow direction is still determined by the combination of your head and that pillow. If you don’t use a pillow it is still the same rule.
You could sleep without a pillow, with your head poking into a bookcase and your feet propped up on the headboard, and the pillow direction would be whatever direction the bookcase is in. If the bookcase is in what practitioners call “west 2” then your pillow direction is west 2. (That may not be optimal, depending on you, your house, and everything else that’s taken into consideration; this is just an example.)
